OUR STORY

Our story is a simple one.  It is about a mother and a daughter and a love of design.  Allyson Coburn and her mother Susan O'hara decided that just talking about owning an interior design business together was never going to be enough.  When the 100-year old historic property on a little over an acre of magnolia-shaded space became available in 2011, they knew this was the ideal spot to take root and grow their shared dream, Cru Home.  Like SuSu (as Susan is affectionately called), the retail store was a welcome breath of fresh air along Highway 6- full of personality and Louisiana charm and the perfect place to showcase Allyson's coastal chic style.

As Cru Home grew, so did their impressive portfolio and need for a space catered to specifically service design clients. An official transition to Cru Design, a change in location brought about the birth of the new Design Center conveniently located in Township Center.

OUR TEAM

Allyson Coburn, Owner - I believe my love for home design directly came from my grandparents.  As a well respected home builder, my grandfather was known for his craftsmanship, never foregoing quality for a less expensive alternative.  My grandmother would be in charge of picking out the interior finishes for his spec homes, which would then bring the project together in preparation for sale.

Earning a Masters in Business Administration degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana allowed me to gain the business background to be able to create the business plan for Cru Design.  Cru Design came about after many years of discussion with my mother regarding our love for all things design.  Our plan was to specialize in bringing our sense of style and taste to our area of Houston, Texas.  Through our retail store we would bring unique items to our area which was in desperate need of new and fresh boutique products.  

While the showroom at Cru Design may have its own distinctive style, Cru Design is not limited to one design palette.  We have brought in a number of additional designers to expand our repertoire and round out our design aesthetic for each of our unique clients.  Seven years of design business has established us as a credible design firm in our community with many examples of finished work and happy clients to confirm it.
